The game of chess is centuries old. Used for many years as part of a soldier’s education to teach strategy, patience and to always have a Plan B. Boards and pieces have been made in numerous designs and materials, many lost to the ages. Castle Board designs use the iconic shapes of fortresses and castles built by kings many years ago, each handmade in the USA from solid exotic wood harvested from tropical forests and here in America. No stains or paints have been used; all boards are the natural color of the wood. The boards are finished with a water base finish to lessen the environmental impact and to help the wood keep its natural color. Wood is a beautiful natural material and there will be some occasional imperfections in the grain which truly adds to the board’s appearance and uniqueness.
